This is one of the largest open bays in Huatulco. It includes a private marina and four beaches. There also is a new convention center that will be a key location for bringing locals and visitors together.

The Chahué Park area has walkways and areas to sit and enjoy the natural surroundings. There are several shops and stores in the park area. Several mini restaurants/bars serve food and drinks that you can enjoy from the outdoor seating area. On most weekends, there is live music in the evenings to listen to and enjoy. The park also has public bathrooms and five pickleball courts.

The main beach has little protection from the open ocean and the shape of the beach makes the waves sometimes very strong. If you wish to swim make sure you check with the lifeguard or others about the current conditions.

The main beach gets busier as the day goes on. Come early to watch the sunrise or stay late to watch the sunset. The Chahué beach is one of the most popular gathering places around. 

Chahué means humid place because many years ago there was a freshwater lagoon near the beach that became a home to animals including crocodiles, cougars, and deer.
